For all of us new homeowners, finding the right contractor can be a daunting task. Especially when one wants to change siding and replace 13 windows in a never remodeled before, 1940’s old home like mine. I found Good Guys Contracting on the James Hardie website and after the first meeting with Scott, I decided to give them a try. I have to say working with David was a pleasure. His approachable personally, his professionalism, knowledge, and his impressive commitment to satisfying every little demand I had made the overall process unexpectedly easy. I was impressed with the whole crew Ted, Al, Greg, Freddy, Stanley a great group of hard working guys. The quality of work and their attention to detail it was what I had hoped for and I was not a bit disappointed. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Every time before pulling into my driveway I slow down and my heart skips a beat. I can’t get enough of how gorgeous my house looks.
The staff at Good Guys Contracting was extremely professional and the craftsmanship was so great that people keep stopping by to mention how beautiful my house looks.
I was very satisfied with their work and the quality of their work. I would highly recommend them if I knew of anybody else needing a contractor.
Our time and work with Good Guys have been one of the benefits of having gone through Hurricane Sandy. They really made the process painless. They were better than we could have hoped for!
Good Guys Contracting prepared me for the scope of the job in advance. They did the job exactly as they stated they and the job were completed flawlessly. Their team approach made the job go very smoothly.
We were extremely pleased with the extensive construction in the renovation of our home. Aside from the excellent physical improvements, the overall management by Alphonso and, of course, David, made this huge undertaking achievable. Thank you to you all for your honesty, integrity and reliability.
It would be a pleasure to recommend your company to prospective customers. We became interested in the Hardieboard System when I saw it on one of my clients’ homes and was impressed how nice the finish was. We have had the vertical tongue & groove cedar siding for decades and not only was it dated but the sanding and staining seemed endless. There are really only a few certified Hardieboard contractors on LI. We got estimates from several of them and ultimately chose Good Guys for both their fair price and good reputation. When they started the project, they stayed with our project from demo to completion. The workers took great pride in the accuracy of the cuts, the window and door detail and sealing all the cracks & crevices to “tighten”up the house. My wife and I noticed a marked difference in draft reduction after completion of the job, especially on the usually cold north side of the house. You have to remember that Hardieboard is a “system” from underlayment, framing all corners, windows and doors, installing the siding and final sealing. Good Guys stressed that process whereas others did not. The finished product is one you will proud of for years to come. We are so happy we chose Good Guys to transform our home.I hope you will be too!
What prompted you to seek Good Guys Contracting’s services? What situation or problem did you need to solve? My wife and I decided that we wanted a James Hardie siding on our home and GGC was listed on the manufacturer’s website as 1 of only 2 contractors in my area as Elite Preferred contractors Why did you specifically select Good Guys Contracting for this project? We worked with both Elite Preferred contractors to get a quotation, and found that we were most comfortable with David from GGCDescribe why you feel that working with Good Guys Contracting was successful. The crew on our job was led by Alfonso. He and the guys did very good work, very detailed, Alfonso communicated to us very well, always worked through any unexpected issues fairly. It was a very good overall experience working with them. And even after the job was over, but we had some issues or needed adjustments, Alfonso and Dave would still quickly reply to text messages, and have someone come to the house to address the problem. If a potential client was on the fence about whether to work with Good Guys Contracting or not, what would you say to them? Meet with Dave and Alfonso and make your decision vs. others that you are getting quotes from. For us, these guys did a great job and work very nice to work with.
My son hired Good Guys Contracting to reside his house and I got to see the quality of work they do before I hired them. I also got to hear how Good Guys responded to any issues that arose during the job. I can say from both my son’s and my experience the general position of Good Guys is, The Customer is Right. I selected Good Guys because of that direct experience. To be honest I didn’t even price out my job so I couldn’t tell you if Good Guys has the lowest price. But I didn’t price it out for a good reason, experience. I was a commercial general contractor in Manhattan and price is the worst reason to pick a contractor. The important things are, what kind of work do they produce and how responsive to the customer are they. I can assure you Good Guys ranks best in both categories. We installed Hardie Siding and that has technical issues peculiar to that product. Hardie does require that all of its dealer/installers qualify to install the product but that doesn’t mean they all are equally capable. Good Guys does excellent, clean work. Here’s an example of their experience, quality and follow-through; when the siding was initially installed it was nailed with power driven pin nails. They leave behind a small hole. I asked if those were going to be filled and was told that the filler Hardie had at that time discolored and that the pin holes were less unsightly. A year after my job was completed I was contacted by Good Guys that Hardie had developed a new filler and they were returning to fill the holes. That’s standing by your work to a degree I’ve never heard of before. Our project was successful for a number of reasons but the main reason is Dave Ferraro. Dave spent time with my wife and I ahead of time and worked out all of the details of what we wanted to do and how we expected it to appear. There’s no such thing as just installing siding or windows. There are a lot of details that go into getting the job you imagine. The other reason is because of the company attitude that the customer is right. If a customer were undecided I would be clear, I don’t have direct experience with any other siding contractors in this area just Good Guys. But I have dealt with a lot of contractors through my career and life and just knowing some of the nightmares that are out there I would stay with a company I know excels. Good Guy excels. I would hire Good Guys without question for any siding, windows, doors or any other specific trade they do. You may or may not pay more but I doubt you would be more satisfied with the job you got.
